I'm pretty squicked out by that pairing too, but there have been summaries on AO3 that sound pretty interesting. It's only because I don't want to be in the situation you're in now that I didn't read it.

No idea what you can do about your RL situation. Unfortunately (?) I don't have a Coulson in my life.

Unfortunately I don't think I'd consider us as close as Skye and Coulson, at least on a two-way street.
(I don't get to see him as often as I used to, which makes me a little sad)

That's one problem with "adopting" people as your paternal/maternal figures. They might be someone you see as a role model admire enormously, but they may never know or understand what all the fuss is about.

Text: I was immediately squicked out when I realized that people shipped her and Coulson (mainly because their relationship reminds me of one I have with a father figure in my life) One day I checked out some Skoulson fic (just out of curiousity because I wanted to see how people wrote their dynamic)

I've had to bar myself from consuming romantic/sexual Skoulson fan work because I realized I'm actually kind of into it (but I would immediately stop watching the show if it ever became canon)

I'm worried that this knowledge will color my future interactions with this person (I'm not close enough with him that I can admit to this and expect a nonchalant "that's kind of weird, whatever," in reply.)

May I add Skoulson shippers on tumblr are the worst type of trash ever. I am sorry I dont even "Stand With Ward" but they spend the whole day trashing Ward litterally making it seem like they are dissing him because everyone ships him with Skye and not Coulson. I don't ship Skyeward either I am a Tripskye shipper but its fucking gross.

I used to read Skoulson from time to time but I had to stop and unfollow all of the shippers because the Ward bashing was getting ridiculous.
