I wish I didn't take the slightest hint of a fannish reference as an opportunity to get all fangirly when I know most people's version of being "fannish" (outside fandom) is "I like this thing."

But when I dumb myself down ("Harry has a friend... I forget his name, is it Don Westley?") i end up embarrassing myself too...

I think you're allowed to know Ron's name. I know the names of several Potter characters, and their actors in some cases, and I've basically watched one of the movies.

AYRT - Should've added I was exaggerating, sorry. Obviously it's not that bad. I just feel like I have to either dumb down how much I know or I take someone's word for it when they say they're also a fan and start rambling about things that confuse them.

I feel that way sometimes. Especially when it comes to obscure RTD vs Moffat stuff... pretty much every minor detail about ATLA... I know almost every single animated Disney movie's original theatrical release year as well as major VA name's and the overlapping roles they've done...

Oh, and the fact that I know all the names of the mane six in My Little Pony. That isn't obscure fandomwise, but it's still MLP.
