I've just started watching the walking dead again and this time I got it pretty bad... clearly the reasons being some of the characters super awesome even if the plot/writing isn't even all that great lately IMO.

OF COURSE I have it bad for Norman Reedus (this fucking show probably saved me from compulsively buying a ps4 just to see his rendered face)'cause he's practically non existent in tv or movies as far as I know and I sorta need to see him a lot more. So yeah, Daryl Dizon FTW!!!

Problem is, I checked on Ao3 and I found ONE fic in a million that's readable. I'm not joking, only one, and it's barely 2000 words. Most of the others even manage to have horrible grammar on the summaries. Also, I'm thinking they are mostly written by 12 years old (literally, not meant as an insult).

SO, DARYL DIXON SLASH RECS? PLEASE GUYS I'M AT THAT PHASE WHERE I NEED IT LIKE AIR...

Also, is there people in here interested in talking about this show? Because I'm alone and talking to myself about it, that's how desperate I am these days.

That's totally TWD but I can't spell anymore.

Yeah... TWD slash is extremely lacking. I can't even remember the last time I read something that wasn't terrible.

the TWD fic in general is pretty lacking. it's sad. I ship Rick/Daryl but a lot of the fic makes them seem like 13 year old drama queens. either that or it's written in a really annoying phonetic accent that I can't be bothered to trudge through (I already put up with that shit in the Left 4 Dead fandom, never again)

AYRT: Yeah, it's very OOC and full of tropes. A lot of terrible grammar too. And I was about to say: maybe some ships have it better but Rick/Daryl? Terrible fic for them out there.

TWD fandom has never really had a high percentage of good quality fic, but I definitely think the better fics were posted when the fandom was in its early days and then the quality began tapering off. Unfortunately, Daryl/Rick didn't have a whole lot of support in the fandom's early period and only began really getting popular somewhat recently and now it's at its peak when the fandom is at its worst.

And the epithets! My God, the epithets! He's constantly referred to as "the hick" in fic.

LOL, Rick/Daryl is pretty terrible, but it's also apparently the only pairing that sorta works... there's some decent stuff for Merle/Daryl, but just a few.

I wonder why not one single good writer seems to have ideas for writing TWD fic, or they just flock to other fandoms and never come near this one... but seriously, it's weird.

Jesus, but WHY. I mean, I was sure it would attract the same kind of people who, say, write in the Captain America fandom just to say one. Seeing as Daryl Dixon is a pretty dark and layered character, which in a way reminds me of the Winter Soldier. So I was really expecting to find a big amount of trash, which is everywhere, but also of good quality fic! I mean, I may be old for the fandom, but most times I can find fic written by adult people with brains for almost anything... :(

I'm so sad, christ.

Oh see, I also bookmarked this author! She seems to be the best most consistent writer in there... but man, she's practically the only one! :( I may have found some incest good ones also, and those are pretty good (if maybe a tad short an way too simplified... I mean, it's incest, there should be more to flesh out ideally speaking) but really, they are few in between.

I'm sad because I feel like we are like 3 adults in a sea of kids in this fandom, while I feel it could have had the potential to be pretty amazing!

PS: do not be unsure about your fic choice! I probably like some other kinds that you would scoff at or whatever. :P
