Re: Weekend Plans
I hate the book fair company--my nick name for them is the Evil Empire (and they're pretty much the only game in Book Fairs). Mostly because I want to put in as little effort as possible (3 schools!) and they want me to set goals, have student crews to help out, "create excitement" when what they mean is they want me to basically pimp their expensive crap. We get so much stuff that is not books and is crap--an example from last fair--a kit for making cardboard models of Minecraft things. It cost 40$. The game is only worth 19.99$. Needless to say, I didn't put the expensive thing out.
I don't think my reps like me much because I don't drink their corporate kool aid and have actually expressed my dislike of some aspects of their organization. Especially when I point out that some of their promotional ideas marginalize the poor kids who can't afford books at book fair.
And there's also the fact that I end up having to close my libraries for two weeks and travel between all three schools each day when the Book Fair is on (normally, I only travel between schools on Mondays)though I do get metrage for my travel. This is probably more than you wanted to know....
