Genuine oppression, as opposed to non-genuine oppression? To try to draw an analogy, I would never, ever tell someone that they're not genuinely ill because my illness is so much worse than theirs.

Yes, as in non-genuine oppression. As in "someone thinks my made-up orientation doesn't exist, I'm so oppressed :(((((", the sort of thing that takes away from the lived experiences of queer people that have had real-life, terrible consequences for being queer. I'm sorry, but I completely refuse to put hurt feelings on the same caliber as being thrown out of your home, or physically attacked, or denied housing and medical care.

You know how "queer" is a reclaimed word? We took a term used in violence against us and made it out own. It's ours because we earned it. And maybe not everyone that feels like it gets to use it too.

This sounds way too reminiscent of when antifeminists mock women for complaining about things like workplace sexism. "You just want to be oppressed! No one's really being sexist towards you!"

It's more like white people doing they're just as affected by racism as black people. Or American Christians saying they're persecuted because they have to see space with non-Christians. There's definitely a difference between how certain groups are treated in society, and I think you're being a bit disingenuous about it, here.

Hmm . . . I don't like the term "white," but I would definitely say that racial discrimination includes many people who have light skin. I'm not really qualified to discuss discrimination against Christians, but I don't see the analogy, unless there are Christians who're claiming they're Muslims and should be included under the Muslim label. I don't think either of these make your argument.
