Re: How to speed up the onset of menstruation? (inherently TMI topic, post is probably fine)

My period doesn't usually start until four or five days of the sugar pill week/off week. I assumed that was natural as your body chemistry is adjusting. I don't think you can speed it up as far as I'm aware. Next time I would recommend not stopping your pills early but instead skipping your 'off week' if you're on a 21 day pack or your sugar pills if you're on the 28 day pack.

The breakthrough bleeding on off weeks isn't actually a real period and there's no harm in 'skipping' that not-period for a month, when the depo-provera needle is every three months and is perfectly safe.

I spent 3 years with a birth control implant and I got my period like once every six months and it is nothing dangerous about it. Skipping your period when you are on the pill is not dangerous, some of my friends do it on purpose quite often because of period pains and they are told to do so by their doctor.

I am not saying you should skip your period often without at the very least consulting a nurse*, but once no biggie.

*Do nurses have the right to prescribe birth control in your country?

Well, the way I have it, I get bleeding (whether it's my period or not) every six weeks. If I try to stack it any longer than that, it's not reliable, sometimes it ignores the pills and starts anyway. My trip is going to be on the sixth week, so my best shot is to do what I can to make it come early, rather than taking the risk to try and postpone it.
