Maybe what is life-changing about it is that you realize that all the bullshit you were fed about it is bullshit?

Here's my rant: I joined a chorus because I love singing and am pretty good at it, but pretty bad at things requiring coordinated movement. This is also why I did not go out for dance or a sport.

So what happens? For my sins, the chorus director has suddenly taken to something she calls "choralography," which means doing something that looks like "Miss Mary Mack" in perfect synchrony with 125 other women while singing "Bring Me Little Water Sylvy."

Fuck my life.

haha, I was in a choir once where the director suddenly decided that what we needed was synchronized hand gestures.
She got a whole lot of flat looks and very grudging participation. Thankfully, that kept our gestures to the bare minimum.

Apparently, the body percussion comes with the territory: I've Youtubed a bunch of recordings of women's groups performing it, and nobody omitted the body percussion. I had the good luck to find a video demonstrating it--slooooowly!--and finally managed to get it.

But I still think it looks like Miss Mary Mack.
