So agreed. It's one of the reason that I find it so refreshing to watch/read media where this doesn't happen - it makes you all more away of the way males and females are traditionally written and acted around one another. This is especially relevent to female characters (in my mind) because they're often written as potential love interests rather than characters in their own right. Either way, the assumption that male/female relationships are about/will lead to a romanic relationship bugs me immensely. :/

Also, it's especially creepy when people take it like that in real life, either by assuming that close female/male relationships are actually romantic, or assumption on one half of the friendship that there should be a relationship simply because of the male/female dynamic. Um, what?

Sorry if any of this is incomprehensible, I'm writing on a rather broken keyboard. >:
