I keep meaning to watch Maurice. I hear that one avoids the tragic tropes.

Three queer characters, two happy endings, one sad. It's a good film, but bear in mind that it's set in a period with entrenched homophobia. Also, Maurice is a prick.

Imagine Me & You - as long as you don't mind the infidelity parts.
D.E.B.S. - silly and fun

Seriously, though, why are all lesbian movies about either infidelity or student/teacher relationships

why

I love D.E.B.S.! It's so dorky and ridiculous but completely adorable and perfect.

"Pick a language! Fringlish is not a language!"

Devon Aoki is so cute in that movie.

Pride. Based on a true story, set in 1980's UK, a London lesbian and gay group decide to adopt a Welsh mining town during the great strikes. It's sweet, touching and funny. It was one of my favorite movies to come out last year.

That really doesn't have a happy ending.

Mambo Italiano is a cute and funny movie. The main character is gay, but the focus is more on how he deals with his tradition, Catholic, Italian family when he's revealed to be gay (since you're asking for movies with happy endings, I feel I should mention that they never disown him or anything over it and in the end, they happily accept him for who he is. He also gets a romantic subplot that has a nice ending)

My friend watched that and said it was terrible. :/ I remember looking it up on Rotten Tomatoes when she mentioned it and it pretty much agreed that it was sucky.

You've probably already seen this one because it was pretty popular a few years back, but Shelter might fit the bill. There's some angst along the way, but the romance between the two leads has a very happy and downright domestic ending

Big Eden--one of the sweetest gay love stories around. love it sooo much. Very happy ending.
Shelter (2007 apparently there's a horror movie with the name as well) Surfer dudes, but nice little movie
My Beautiful Laundrette (Young Daniel Day Lewis with punky blond hair; warning for homophobia and racism, set in the UK in the 80s. One of my faves, though.)

Friends and Family! It is one of my favourite movies and it is just so happy and fun! It is about a gay couple are hit men for the mafia, but when one of the parents come to visit they have to pretend to be in catering because their parents don't know they work for the mafia and they get help from their mafia buddies and it is just wonderfully fun and now I want to watch it again!

Saving Face. A Chinese-American lesbian starts living with her mom after her widow mom reveals that she's pregnant and gets bumped from the grandparents' house. It's a culture clash type movie but it's super sweet and has a really cheerful feel.

My stand-by feel-good LGBT movie is In & Out. The ending always puts a smile on my face.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Val Kilmer plays a gay private detective teaching Robert Downey Jr the PI ropes, and it ends about as happily as a noir comedy written by Shane Black can.

Straight-Jacket, the 2004 Matt Letscher movie, not the 1964 Joan Crawford movie. Very campy and wonderful, but includes a sham marriage (where the wife is unaware of the sham) and is set smack in the midddle of the McCarthy era.
