What are the "best" and "worst" you've seen? How do you define that for you?

Do you like the kink or the gen prompts? Best fandom for certain kinks? Most active KMs? Best atmosphere? Best mods?

I don't have a preference for gen vs kink (though gen ones are awesome). I think the Avengers and Thor ones are fairly active.

The worst for me is SPN Kink Meme. Just...so much terrible stuff. But there are some people who probably enjoy it.

I'm curious. I've never looked at the SPN meme but it always comes up as being awful. Does it have any redeemable features or worthwhile prompts? Or did all the sane SPN fans make other kink memes to use?

Back in the day it wasn't so bad. Last time I checked a large portion was child rape fic.

Seriously WTF SPN Kink meme?

I hate that in some circles it's considered censorship to say you don't like it, even. I made that mistake once and had to delete my LJ for a while because of it.

It is the worst. THE WORST. I don't know how it still exists.

I stopped following the SPN kink meme when they stopped separating out things. I'm all for "live and let kink," but things that might be triggering should at least be labelled. That kink meme is now such a free for all and it is all but impossible to find minor pairings there.

The only kink meme I follow is http://hobbit-kink.livejournal.com. Most other kink memes I've found seem to go bust pretty quickly.

This one's slowed down a bit but is still pretty active. Not too many trolls or fights. Good variety of prompts. A few juggernaut pairings but most characters are represented fairly well. Pretty good place if you like genderswap or gender role type prompts (since they like to play with the gender disparity among the dwarves). Also some excellent gen prompts.

I like the Hobbit kink meme a lot. There is a decent amount of good fics, it is fairly active, the mods are awesome, and it is just a genuinely fun place.

I'm... actually kind of tired of prompts being one or the other anymore. That's not why I write fic. I don't write it for the romance/kink, but I don't necessarily need it to be gen only either, you know?

I'm not sure if it's still active, but the X-men First Class kink meme was a lot of fun back in the day (if you're a Charles/Erik or Alex/Hank shipper anyway. there were still some other pairings around but those two had most of the shippers).

Hell, the Glee kink meme was also pretty cool in its very early stages. I like that they even had a separate post for the super angsty prompts because it was nice to have them all in one place (I love angst fic ngl). Of course, things eventually devolved...like, a lot. Probably around mid to late season two I think. That place had some weird shit going on (although I guess you might like it if you're into vote, girl!peen, were!peen, boy!pussy, and things of that nature)

The Dragon Age kink meme is an icky combination of painfully boring prompts, embarrassing unfunny humor prompts, homophobic and transphobic prompts, and hydra-trash-party-level prompts that make me feel dirty just for scrolling past them. Most days it feels like 80% of the prompts involve characters I can't stand, and prompts that actually appeal to or inspire me are few and far between. As an A!A, I'm not a fan.

The mods run a nice pinboard, though.

The only ones I've ever followed were for Teen Wolf and The Eagle. I don't even know if either are still active but both seemed to get a decent amount of fills and there were minimal "nasty" prompts.

I like it best when KMs allow/encourage both gen and kink prompts. It's nice to have a mix of both.

The best Kink Meme is the Phoenix Wright Kink Meme. It's been going strong for well over five years and it has all sorts of prompts.
