In what way was it groundbreaking? What brand new thing did it do?

It (and Iron Man) were the first big superhero movies that brought in this new superhero movie revival and mad superhero action movies cool again?

DA

Honestly, I'd give WAY more credit to Batman Begins than The Dark Knight.

In fact, Batman Begins is the only Nolan film I've ever liked.

I agree, but Batman Begins was still "uncool". Not many people went to see it, and I remember my family making fun of me for going to see it, haha.

Nolan is alright. He makes big blockbusters that have a lot of thought put into them. It's not only that they're low on goof elements, it's that they're high on actual thought and effort put into the narrative and the way the film is constructed.

I know The Dark Knight Rises was silly in a lot of places. I know that The Dark Knight is rated very highly and a lot of 14 year olds like it. But I find the movie to be pretty good and certainly better than the vast majority of cape films.

it was miles better than the superman movies (any of them), i could relate to batman way more than i could to the characters in guardians of the galaxy. i'm not into hero movies as a rule but nolan's batman movies were at least able to appeal to more than one demographic
