Also, I am rarely in a place where I can actually rewatch DK. It is just so oppressively depressing. It makes me miserable to watch it.

I agree. I won't say DK is a bad movie, but it is not a movie that I enjoy. I did enjoy Batman Begins, but DK is just too much of a downer for me to really enjoy. I rewatched it recently to see if my opinion had changed, but no.
