Re: Do you think fiction has an obligation for representation?

Not an obligation, but if it's set in the real world then it should be criticized if it's not accurately representing groups that would have been present. For example, if you're story deals with women's units during WW2, chances are there should be some queer women there given how many enlisted.

If it is set up in a made up place/the future...well. I'll be side eyeing your story some if there isn't representation at the very least.
