Also, I am rarely in a place where I can actually rewatch DK. It is just so oppressively depressing. It makes me miserable to watch it.

Yeah, I have this problem too. I know the trend right now is to extoll grim n' gritty as "good," but that's just not how I like my stories. Especially not my escapist stories about people who put on silly costumes and fight bad guys. I think TDK is objectively a well-made movie, but it is difficult for me to watch. I would rather watch the Burton Batman movies or most of the MCU movies because those make me happy.

I can usually handle depressing if there is a happy ending. I do like Dark Knight Returns. However, I think Dark Knight would probably be too much for me even if it did have a happy ending.

And the thing is, I do think it is an objectively well made movie, but I don't think it is objectively superior to every other superhero movie. I think some of the Marvel movies are objectively as well made and in some cases better.

'objective' is a weird word to use when discussing opinions, though.
