Stories You Want To Tell But Won't

(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Ever wanted to write an epic? An in-depth analysis you can't get references for? A huge poem but you can't rhyme? A sweeping AU of your favorite pairing that you don't have time for?

What thing do you want to write but probably never will?

I have so many fanfic ideas for various fandoms that would take a skill level about a hundred times mine to pull off. Long, sprawling epic things. So many.

One idea I know I'll probably never pull off: a story paralleling a god to a Nice Guy, drawing analogies between the expectation of sex and the expectation of worship. I'm not sure I even have the guts to try to publish it.

If you could pull it off, that would be a fantastic piece of social commentary. Dude, I hope you manage it.

All of them. :( I can write a research paper no problem, but I suck at fiction writing.

I sort of want to tell m own story, or a story where the protagonist very much resembles me - but that's sort of scary.

A comedy show/webseries with the kind of humour that I like to watch. Not that I can't find it ever, I just want to do some for myself.

I don't act or have any actor/screenwriter friends, etc.

Omg! I want to do this too! I even have sketches written down, but noone who would be interested in acting/filming it with me. Siiiiigh.

There are so. many. chat logs lurking on my hard drive that are all about plotting some AU or other with my best fandom friend. All of them are from fandoms we've fallen out of, but I keep the logs because the stories we never wrote are still fun to think about.

I have so many notes of fic ideas, but I actually got to cross some off recently so I feel better about getting through some of my ideas. Im going to fill up the Animorphs fandom on AO3 with so much shit, just saying.

I haven't been in SPN in a long time. I'm only half-keeping up with the show and most anything I want to write is set around S4/S5. I used to write up my ideas and they could be long. I even made outlines of a couple (and the outlines were long-ass too). I've moved on to other shows now and have other things I want to write. For the complicated nature of the ideas and my flagging love of the show (plus the fact that it's not ending any time soon so the few that might hinge on how the show ends would still have to wait), these will likely never be written.

Well there's some non-fiction that I'd love to write that's literally impossible to do without a time machine...

I have an outline for a play that I'd like to write some day. It involves two time periods- WWI-ish and roughly-modern-day (I can't have a character who was a child in the first section appear as an old lady in the second part unless it's like 1995)- and I know almost everything that happened in the WWI story. But things get kind of vague when I try and figure out what should happen to their modern descendents.

And on a silly note, yes, I wish I could finish the crazy Victorian Hogwarts thing I came up with years and years ago. I have a detailed outline for one of the stories, but mostly just notes and doodles for the other ones. I'm kind of always coming up with cool ideas/concepts and a bunch of unique characters and then never doing the focused task of articulating this stuff into one story.

Late, but thank god it's not just me doing this. The best I can do are snippets of scenes that can't stand on their own so I can't even post them as drabbles.

1. The one where every character I have ever loved is on the USS Enterprise and they fight zombies.
2. Assassin's Creed/Buffy the Vampire Slayer crossover centering on the Boxer Rebellion. NOBODY CARES ABOUT YOUR HISTORICAL OC, SELF
3. Long involved Daemon AU for Iron Man/Avengers. Mostly this is an excuse to come up with daemons for most of the MCU when I am bored.

oh god I could keep going.

I'd love to do something like that. I don't really have time or energy to do it, but it would be something else to just sit and work on that for months.

The seagull thing. At least, not for a while. *sobs theatrically, doesn't log in*

I started to write an AU of Supernatural Seasons 1 and 2, where it was set in space in the far off future. The ship was called the Impala, obviously, and Sam and Dean were trying to find out what happened to their father who died while investigating the destruction of their home planet. Bobby lived on a moon littered with junk spaceships. Never finished it.

Some sort of Bones AU that shows Wendell pulling a Zack move and working with a serial killer. He would probably do this to get some money, since Wendell's financial precariousness is pretty well documented and could be linked to falling prey to a dangerous scheme easily. On the other hand, his personality makes it tough, and I'd have to probably build a headcanon just for that.
