(Anonymous) 2015-03-03 01:04 am (UTC)(link)Reading a book means taking time out of my schedule to sit down and read, so I rarely do it. It doesn't mean I'm illiterate though, I spend a lot of time reading articles online, I just don't like reading books much these days.
I think we needed to push people to read books more before the internet because if people weren't reading books or magazines, they really were. not. reading. Now someone could say they don't read but they're still taking in information online all day, so they're essentially underestimating how much they do read.

It is a lot easier to watch TV than read, but to me there's still no reason not to read SOMETHING. I'm not saying you need a to read a novel a day like I do (I decompress in the bath after dinner most nights with a drink and a book), but even just reading a magazine online, or news, or anything really.
I've seen people who bring an ereader or a book to work and read a few chapters on their lunch break too.
To me it's just the 'I don't have time to read anything at all ever' or 'all reading is stupid' that I just can't understand. :/
