How old I feel depends on which game people refer to when they say Zelda 2.

It used to be Majora's Mask. Now it's A Link Between Worlds.

That makes me feel really old because to me, Zelda 2 means Zelda II, Adventure of Link.
Majora's Mask was the first of the "new" Zelda games and the beginning of the end. Ocarina of Time was the last good one, but I admit I haven't even given the newest ones a chance because I hated MM so much and every release after exponentially more.

+1 To me Zelda 2 means the actual, Zelda 2, I wasn't even aware people were calling other Zelda games by that name. I was a young kid in the 80s and the NES was mostly what people had for a very long time, heck most people only had the original Zelda and didn't even have Zelda 2.

Disagree about the games though, I think a lot of the newer games have been good.

Wasn't Zelda 2 a scroller type that played differently than all the others?

Yeah but that's not my point, some people think Majora's Mask is Zelda 2 :P
