What strikes me is that I haven't seen any actual specific criticism of the strip from its critics, beyond an apparent kanji error (easy to make).

There's, "ignorant white folk shouldn't even try," which Katie shot down.
There's, "This makes me vaguely uncomfortable," without specific information, which the creative team cited as why they were quitting.
And there's the troll who shouted, "You shouldn't have done it/You know what you did," at Toril for a long exchange on Twitter.

Am I missing something?

Considering how Katie abandoned her last strip, I'm kind of thinking it's a matter of her getting easily discouraged with a project.

This is what's driving me nuts about it! What was the huge, awful, racist? mistake the creators did? What?

The person on twitter kept acting like it was super mega obvious and it was not omg.

I am convinced that she was just trolling Toril because she could. For the lulz, apparently.

I think it finally became enough that Katie called it quits.
