I first heard about Gilgamesh on Star Trek TNG. :)

Looking at the new Alexander movie, I'm not sure they would erase the gay subtext. I think there's a good chance that they'd actually go full-on with it (but probably in a way that fetishizes it). It just seems like a trend in Hollywood.

Besides, Hollywood loves buddy movies and most of those have some heavy subtext in them. I think it would be fine.

Do you mean the Alexander movie from a few years ago? They did have Alexander's bisexuality be canon, which was awesome, but they actually got a lot of crap for that, which may have actually affected their ratings. Even Greece's government was mad about it, apparently, and Greek "historians" who deny that Alexander was into guys... Though I think the movie had a few other flaws, as for the gayness, I think it was released just a few years too early. Would've had a better chance at success today.

The movie tanked because it was terrible, not because Alexander smooched Bagoas once in it. And personally I'm still mad about what they did to Hephaistion, starting with that stupid hair.

I first heard about Gilgamesh in Final Fantasy.
