I only think Tom´s relationship was a "pair up the spare" case. The rest were in relationships before, so it felt natural.

By the way, I don´t know what people who complain about the happy ending were expecting from Parks and Rec. It´s a feel good show. It was always like that, Leslie (almost) always wins and everybody is happy. And that´s FINE, that´s what I love about this show. If I wanted realistic sad things I´d watch the news.

This. And unlike some shows I've seen where they over-do the happy ending epilogue thing, this one didn't feel OTT for me. Like with Leslie, I enjoyed how it was implied she may have become president but was never directly made clear.
