There's a few writers in my main fandom that are like that. They're praised all over the place, but they just come off so damn smug/condescending that I can't read all of their stuff.

Actually, their FIC isn't smug, but their replies to comments and their tumblr are so...patronizing that I'm put off their fic, too.

Urm, I think this probably applies to me as something I do. Just wanted to say that in my case I am socially awkward as hell and just screw up everything I try to communicate. :/

I know at least one of them outside of just fic (but still on the internet, but through her personal accounts). She really is just condescending/smug so you really might not be coming off that way.
