The first time I found a slash fic, I didn't understand slash was a thing, and thought it was some twelve year old being homophobic - you know, "lol I'll make Harry Potter characters GAY." I flamed the HELL out of the author, and of course looked homophobic myself.

... I actually did this a few times before I realized they were serious. :/
