I lost interest after the time skip too (actually after Marineford, but I forced myself through Luffy's flashback), but recently caught up with it and am back in love with it. Reading it all in one go really helped.

But yes, the female characters got so much worse. The manga is bad, the anime terrible. I don't even know what that shit was when Robin got caught by dwarf tribe, but it actually pales compared to Rebecca. I tried to tell myself that her non-existant amour is part of the bullying she faces for being Riku's granddaughter (the anime mentioned her being examined more thorougly than any other gladiator), but even that excuse is wearing thin. I hope Koala turns out to be a badass fighter.

And then there's Momonosuke, who I hope they'll throw overboard soon. Neither Robin nor Nami should be the type to fall for the cute kid act!
