Re: Embarrassing moments that haunt you years later

6th grade.

I don't remember why, but some of the kids were chosen to stay like 15 minutes later after school (if it was allowed) to clean off the white board and update it with the date of the next day, reminders, etc. I was in charge one day, and I forgot to change the date. I didn't realize it until the next day, when the date was said on the intercom by one of the office ladies.

Before I go on, let me just say that I was the shyest kid, omg it makes me sick just thinking about it. But for some reason, I developed the nerve to just walk up to the whiteboard in front of the whole class and change the date. I was chuckling silently to myself, and smiling, like haha, silly me, you guys! I will fix it!. I guess that's where my never came from - I could hide behind humour.

AND THEN the teacher gave me shit for it in front of everyone and made me go back and erase it and put it back to the date that it was, which was the incorrect date and therefor made absolutely no sense. It stopped being funny, and I wanted to hide. She was legitimately pissed, and no one in my class thought what I did was cute or funny. They thought I was weird.

And, on top of all that? It was Pajama Day. So I felt pretty vulnerable in my ridiculous monkey-print pajamas. I was comfy, at least!
