Let's also throw in "it's exactly like the manga/it's just for the manga fans/it's Naoko's vision!", countless rantings about how critics are just nostalgic/blind to the faults of the old anime, and numerous "why aren't they complaining about [thing in Crystal] in other shows/other versions of SM too?!" and "it's totally realistic for 14-year-olds to act that way!".

The most hilarious thing to me about the art and animation? How some of it actually got worse in the Blueray releases.

I honestly didn't mind the bad art and animation at first. I didn't until, uh, after ep 5? Mako's intro anyway, when I realized they not just wouldn't fix the manga's pacing and characterization issues, but also make then worse with all the unnecessary changes and godawful directing.

no I'm not gonna be happy just because my ships in the very strictest technical sense became canon shut up I won't count "we fell in love with their looks and one of them told us to keep fighting" as canon

yeah I'm still bitter
