People thinks Rene reciprocates Gruber's love? By the end of the show, not even Gruber thinks that (I ship Gruber/Colonel Von Stromm though, Helga/HerrFlick is Helga's OTP). That is part of the beauty of the relationship between Gruber and Rene, by the end even Gruber knows it is a lost cause, but he can't stop loving him.

I do think Rene cares about Gruber a little, in a friendship way. Even when Gruber has long since ceased to be part of the scary Nazis and is pretty much on Rene's side spying on the rest of the Germans, Rene is nowhere near as harsh on him as he could get away with. It is never going to be a reciprocal romantic love though.

Oh. And YAY! Allo' Allo' secret!
