i feel like out of all the games that you could've used to prove this point, GW2 probably does a better job of being less about the boobs than a lot of games. i mean it's by no means perfect and they could definitely do a much better job, but i always flashback to some of the other (admittedly shittier) MMOs i played and the selection GW2 offers in terms of armour is so much better.

LOTRO did the best job for armour imo though, shame the game isn't on a prettier engine.

OP

I used GW2 as an example because it's the one I'm playing, and struggling with, at the moment. I'd want to make a female human mesmer, but lot of the light armor is so boob-a-rific that I fear I'll waste all my transmutation chargers on that. I guess I'll make a warrior.

ah, that's fair then.

i just put my necro in the adventurer's scarf, striped scarf, dry bones top, illustrious gloves, exalted pants and aetherblade boots, i look pretty cute and only a bit of midriff and thigh.

*tilts head* There's body-covering light armor in GW2. This link may be of use to you: http://www.gw2armorgallery.com/norn-light.htm - also the wiki: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Norn_female_light_armor

I'm assuming your character's a norn based on the secret, but if not, just click one of the other races. You also may want to consider races, because the armor will look different; for instance, Asura and Charr have MUCH less revealing armor than Norns, Sylvari, or humans.

Medium and heavy armor have a lot of options too. At this point, once you have discovered an armor skin, it's unlocked for your full account, so you can transmute it. I'll note that medium and heavy have both skin-baring and non-skin baring armors, and if you're buying your upgrades off the trading post, there's usually options for both within a few levels of each other, if you don't want to spend transmute charges while you're leveling. My main, who is a Norn, goes back and forth. She was wearing this style for awhile but is wearing this now, which is just about her limit for skin-baring (helms hidden, of course).

You can preview armor/wardrobe items at the bank including things you don't yet own, so you can mix and match until you found the perfect outfit.

also this site is great to quickly view armor:
