That thing on American TV when the only time you ever see a character drinking liquor is when they're an alcoholic.

Not really. Anon is exaggerating slightly. It's true that most mainstream American television doesn't show a lot of alcohol consumption unless it's to hint at excess, but it happens.

They will show beer drinking or wine, though. Just not liquor. Even though you can get just as drunk and be just as much of an alcoholic on beer and wine.

Really?

I mean I don't think it's as common as beer or wine but I can definitely think of examples just off the top of my head. Even just something as simple as people doing shots.
