Fandom or in general?

I hate when people think disagreeing with someone or finding out someone is wrong somehow voids them of their humanity and they feel they can treat the "wrong" person like shit. And I'm not talking about over issues that are important but over petty things.

This might not be a pet peeve really but I've been wanting to complain about it as I see it online all the time. People get jumped on for saying such innocent things.

Honestly, IMHO even with important issues... I feel like people sometimes forget why others feel as they do. Not everyone's a strawman.

It's definitely worse when it's petty stuff, though.

When alphabetical lists count a "The" at the beginning. So instead of The Lion King being after James in the Giant Peach, it is after The Hunchback of Notre Dame. D:

I've gotta be honest I count 'The' when I alphabetize things because I cannot stand seeing a 'The' in the middle of like my list of A's or something. It bothers me to no end so I sub-alphabetize the 'The' titles in my movie collection.

Character bashing in fics. I hate it so much, even when it is a character I don't actually like.

Professors who want medical documentation for the flu. Seriously? No, I didn't go to the doctor for the flu. But I had a temperature of 102, so I really don't think you or anyone else wanted me in class.

I am with you on the second one. The last time a professor asked me that I was just like "I don't go to the Doctor for that and I can't afford to go to the Doctor for that."

I'm an adult who pays for these classes, I understand why they have an absence policy but I always felt like as long as I was still within the allotted amount of absences you shouldn't question why I'm gone.

I never understood the second one, if I'm so sick that I can't go to class I sure as hell wont be able to go to the Doctors to get a note. I'll be lying in bed all day feeling like I'm dying. Thankfully my lecturers were really lax about this but I had friends who were not so lucky.

The second bothers me because it's so classist, especially for K-12 graders. Like, okay, all the poor kids who maybe can't afford to drop hundreds on a doctor visit for a flu are automatically dinged way harder for being absent than Tiffy the Millionaire is.

They do that at my work. Holy gods, I'm an adult, not one of the hordes of teens you hire. If I'm too sick to work, I'm too sick (two sick days in over a year).

And no, I didn't go to the doctor, it wasn't a 'doctor' thing, they wouldn't have done anything but tell me to drink fluids and rest and I can't afford to pay for that kind of 'advice'.

That's really stupid, since there's nothing a doctor can really do for the everyday flu except treat the symptoms. Who the hell wouldn't opt to skip the co-pay and just stay at home being miserable and drinking Theraflu or something?

Oh god this. So fucking gross.

I haven't flushed the toilet with the lid up in years. I just figured out as a kid that some toilets splash water onto the seat, therefore they must also splash gross shit water elsewhere too.

I'm not sure if it's a peeve per se, but it frustrates me when a bunch of people who made comments I think are misguided all got upvoted, and one person who made a comment I thought was reasonable got heavily downvoted. I feel like there isn't even a point in adding my opinion.

(I guess you can extrapolate something similar to real life, but the only time I've experienced something like that IRL was when I went to a feminist rally. Someone said that sexism is the only reason men are grossed out by menstrual blood. I said it's gross for the same reason pee is gross, and everyone looked at me like I had three heads and proceeded to ignore me.)

- Couples who attend social events together and get all weird if you try making conversation with them. Or spend the whole time ignoring everyone. Just don't go if you want to be alone.

- When I'm with someone and they answer their phone, and act like it's the other person's fault they're taking too long to hang up when I can hear them doing the talking.

When people place dirty clothes in the little carts at the laundromat (their usage is for transporting CLEAN clothes, not DIRTY clothes)

AND

when people sit on, sit their children on, or place bags, coats,etc. the folding tables at the laundromat. Again, intended for clean clothes, fresh out the dryer, not for your pants that have sat God knows where, the same for your child, bag, coat, newspaper, food, etc.

That shit drives me up a wall.
