I've noticed that if I spend too long reading or playing something that's blatantly sexist, then for a couple days afterwards I'm much more likely to think insulting or condescending things when thinking about women I know. (This is one of the reasons I avoid sexist stories like the plague.) I can't say a metric fuckton of fictional violence has made me any less disturbed by real violence, though.

On a side note, I have to feel for Brad Bushman. He's spent years trying to prove that violent video games cause bullying, and every time the news reports on it, they think he's saying that violent video games cause gun massacres.
