i'm honestly kind of surprised that fandomsecrets is still running in the age of tumblr confession blogs.

i still read fs posts but sometimes i feel like it's not worth it because most of these fandoms are no1curr territory for me and i don't care about anybody in the friending memes.

I'm glad it's around because everything has moved to Tumblr, and it's so hard to have a conversation there.

Worse, the vibe would be totally different if it were on tumblr. Because face it, we say many, many things here that would be shouted down for being racist, sexist, homophobic, ableist and all around problematic (even if they aren't actually.)

This is more of a middle ground between the far right and the far left.

I like that we can have discussions that I'm able to follow, even if everyone is flawed in their own ways.

I'm not advocating saying sexist things or w/e but it's nice that random sexist remarks get dismissed as troll or ignored instead of 600 people commenting to the same thing pointing out that it's sexist.

i do check out new series a lot, but not a lot catches my interest.

i wish new people from my fandoms posted here, a lot of the regulars here who i share interests with just aren't that great.

I'm happy it exists. I'm flowing with tumblr discourse a lot, but I like coming here because something is hot and happenin' on tumblr, I can get a different view point over here. Neither viewpoint may be right, and both sides tend toward severely anti SJ (here) and something wild there (Tumblr), but that's the nature of discussion.

Tumblr in general is, mainly because of its interface. It's really not designed for community or conversation, and when it's used for those, it works very poorly.

Eh, my limited time with confession blogs felt less neutral than here. I read a few now and then, but they just don't have the same "I'm trying" charm I'm familiar with here. And if I wanted secrets that came with a mod commenting and tagging how shit or wrong they are, I'll participate in them. Right now I prefer to be called a shithead by everyone who is not a mod.

Also, the comm has always been full of regulars who come and go, on top of daily updates, so I don't find it surprising. Show me a confession blog that looks like it'll last as long (this actually my way of asking for recs tbh).

remember my experience with the Walking Dead concession blog in s1 and s2. The mods were toxic and so were the people. If it wasn't specific ships, then people would be rejected or ripped apart personally by the mods. What is the purpose even? I don't know if it's changed since then, but nothing compares to FS and case.
