Re: Discussion for Secret #16
Psychological horror, especially with certain topics, has been almost comforting, because I have experienced it. I feel like other people can get me, or I can say, "you know like in that movie? That's what I feel right now."
I feel like it's made me a more compassionate person. I have a frame of reference, albeit indirect, to horrible injuries or experiences, so I can empathise/sympathise better, and I'm not going to dismiss it. I don't have to personally experience, say, getting my foot broken on purpose to realize just how horrific it is, because I've seen it play out.
Other people react in different ways: some take their fear out on others, some find it cathartic, some panic, some desensitize; all can happen for different reasons. It's so dependent on what else has happened in your life.
