Something I will never understand is how publicized BL art is so bad that it created the whole 'yaoi hand' joke whereas a lot of fanmade BL doujinshi looks so pretty. I have several favorite doujinshi artist but I can't think of many published yaoi/BL art that I like.
Maybe it's just the fandoms I'm in.

I think it's a generational thing. Nakamura is in her 40s, and Zaou Taishi/Eiki Eiki (Love Stage!! authors) are as well, if not older. They grew up with different aesthetics, when different art was enjoyed by their fans.

It'll be interesting to see if the art styles change in the next 10 years as some of the popular doujin artists become mangaka themselves (some of my favorite artists are branching out into original work, if not 'published in a manga magazine' work, and they're way less 'yaoi hands').
