They managed to do what no one else in the world could do (steal a Silmaril) and their actions ended up bringing down Morgoth in the end. Also, she managed to move Death (basically) and brought her lover back to life. She also sacrificed her immortality for him.
He ended up losing his hand and being cut off from his people for ever more to be with her. He tried to leave her behind to keep her safe but she wasn't having any of it. Luthien on her own is pretty epic but she did most of her amazing feats for love of Beren.
