I referred to this show as a "junk anime" one time and my friend got offended :)

Honestly, what else can you call it? Even if you enjoyed it, it wouldn't be for some deep intellectual reason, right?

I like it (without loving it and I don't think it's worth a rewatch) and I agree it's junk anime.

Well don't call it 'junk' if you don't want your friend to be pissed. Call it 'Slice of Life'. That what you call an anime when there is no big plot and just daily mundane activities and conversations. Some people enjoy the carefree and slow pace that you can just shut your brain off and chill. Of course it doesn't appeal to everyone but it's not junk.
