I tried reading some of the manga once, I think? Or a comic made from the anime, maybe? And yeah, it was pretty thin and unmemorable. So I'm with you.

The only thing I remember and enjoyed from that series was the hardcore parody store manager. Everything else was bland and tedious.

Same, though I got into it hoping for ships. Unfortunately it was one of my first SoL series and put me off most of the genre.

Going by the fans I've met, a good part of the interest comes from wanting to fuck the characters, and the rest is whatever draws people to moe.

Agreed. I really wanted to like this show, because I love the art style, but it's just so bland. I watched several episodes, expecting it to get better, but it didn't. That being said, I still have at least one poster from it on my wall, because I sincerely love the art style. Shame nothing happens.

You make it sound like you watched several episodes before giving it up but dude, the chocolate cornet episode was the first one. You watched one episode and then you dropped it. Why are you saying "nothing happens in this show" when you only watched the first episode?

If I watched the first episode of a show, and found no entertainment value in it, I wouldn't want to watch any more. Even worse if it's slice of life or comedy.

I watched I think 2-3 episodes with my friend, out of order, didn't think much of it but decided to give it a try on my own. So I started with the first episode and that's when I decided it wasn't for me. So overall I watched 4 episodes or so.

That said, if your first episode, which is the one that is supposed to sell the show to me, is 20 minutes of boring fucking discussing how to eat a fucking chocolate cornet, you're a bad writer and you should feel bad.

Well don't call it 'junk' if you don't want your friend to be pissed. Call it 'Slice of Life'. That what you call an anime when there is no big plot and just daily mundane activities and conversations. Some people enjoy the carefree and slow pace that you can just shut your brain off and chill. Of course it doesn't appeal to everyone but it's not junk.

If you want my own opinion, I never picked it up because I wasn't that interested in watching lolis talk about nothing and the art style never caught my eye. Also it was published during the time where moe slice of life with yuri undertones series where being mass produced and that thing was everywhere. I tried watching the first episode but it just never clicked with me.

Also yes, I picked up GSNK because it was a quick five minute read and it amuses me. No biggie.

I liked it, but I really enjoy SOL stuff so there might be a bias there.

Though, it's probably worth a mention that the original director was fired early on and the episodes after are much better.

TTGL, SZS, Baccano!, Hidamira Sketch, Dennou Coil, Mononoke, Kaiji all aired in 2007 and i'm sure there's more i'm forgetting

Text: A friend recommended this show, so I gave it a try.

But… I didn’t get it? Nothing happened! I have read other slice of life mangas like Azumanga Daioh, but this was the first manga that felt 100% pointless!

But my friend loved it, so I gave it a chance. I made myself keep watvhing it.

At one point I realied I had spent the last fucking 20 minutes watching a group of randos discuss the best way to eat a fucking chocolate-filled pastry!!

And that’s when I finally gave up.

tl;dr this show bores me

For some reason I really enjoyed it the first time I watched it, but I can't watch it again. It feels so tedious and boring now.

It's weird because I actually like SoL and Konata was a pretty funny character.
