Yeah I recognise this. True crime shows are something that is not done her but US true crime shows are fine. So I have spent some time sick on the couch watching shit tv wondering if the USA is that insane or just more open to showing it.

The same with other reality tv. They are so fake and loud that it makes me wonder if the USA is just like that.

All Americans I know weren't like that at all but they are also mormons so IDK

Reality TV is fake and loud because it...actually is fake. It's mostly scripted, and a lot of the stuff that isn't is edited to be as dramatic as possible.

This is a reality show. No one is loud and or shouting. The UK has reality shows that are loud and shouty but plenty that aren't. Why have I never seen a show like this from the USA? Am just not looking in the right place or is this a cultural thing?

Aimed at different people, maybe. But really, I was responding to the idea of all Americans being as they seem on reality shows. The point is that they're not. Reality shows don't actually reflect reality.

There are lots of non-shouty ones. The ones where they do home improvement stuff, maybe some of the wilderness survival ones, and stuff like teams of bakers competing to make the best cupcakes. Things like that.

I've seen UK reality shows that are just as ridiculous?

Anyway, people watch them BECAUSE they don't act like real people. It's preposterous and silly and sort of a soap opera trainwreck, and people get into it. The people on the shows don't act like normal Americans because it's not as interesting to watch to some people.
