So, yeah. It's actually a pretty big difference.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-16 01:54 am (UTC)(link)"Besides, as the vilest Writer has his Readers, so the greatest Liar has his Believers; and it often happens, that if a Lie be believ’d only for an Hour, it has done its Work, and there is no farther occasion for it. Falsehood flies, and the Truth comes limping after it; so that when Men come to be undeceiv’d, it is too late; the Jest is over, and the Tale has had its Effect…" ~ Jonathan Swift

(Anonymous) 2015-03-16 04:31 am (UTC)(link)I do get great enjoyment with my daily scroll through my facebook feed posting Snopes links to every Obama Put Out Kill Order On Anyone Celebrating Christmas, and Cinnamon Cures HIVCancerbola, and 1 Share = 1 PRAYER!!!! 4 Sick Kids Ignore if u want them to DIE!!!!
But I'm aware that at best I get "Snopes is a less reliable source than facebook!!!" and generally it just gets deleted.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-16 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)You can edit your posts in other blogs and have more people see the newer version, compared to tumblr, where most people will only ever read reblogged versions of your post.
Incidentally, I think this was the reason why Andrew Hussie of MSPAdventures fame, gave up on his tumblr? People kept reblogging his posts and editing them to make it sound like he said all sorts of crazy shit, and because not everyone went to his tumblr page to see the original posts, it got out of hand.

Man that's so dumb.

lol what??????
Also your FB feed sounds pretty crazy. o.O
But anyway, on FB you can always go back to the original post (unless someone shared it separately which is less likely since that takes more effort) and try to counteract it. People can delete it, but if they don't it stays on the original post.
And anyway we're talking about negligent spread of misinformation, not purposeful. If someone is actively trying to stop people from spreading the truth it will always be much harder.

(Anonymous) 2015-03-15 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)The weird political stuff creeps into fandom Tumblr, and there are artists I stopped following because I did not want to listen to them talk about how queer they were and how socially progressive and [gag] whatever so freaking much.
But too many of the teenies are horribly offended by porn Tumblr to really intersect with it. So you can enjoy arty stocking fetish photos, hardcore GIF's. or images of three young burly men stacked naked crotch-to-butt without having to worry about it. It's so calm.

Certain elements of tumblr though. I'm reading Echopraxia by Peter Watts, (of the, ___ sucks and everyone dies school of hard science fiction) and there's an chapter where the poor untransformed biologist discovers that the hive mind people got their transhuman intelligence by giving themselves brain cancer.
Tumblr is LGBT rights brain cancer. Possibly feminist brain cancer as well.

(that sounds interesting. I should check that out)

(Anonymous) 2015-03-16 03:33 am (UTC)(link)If there really is people being seriously offended by that post in your dashboard, have you considered that maybe the list of people you follow is need of a purge?
