I'd say twitter is worse. One click retweets, bad for keeping track of who replied to which tweet, almost universally used so you get a lot of internet-illiterate middle age people who can't tell a satire newspaper from the Times...

Oh twitter is MUCH worse. Shit gets spread and things go downhill much faster there, because it's such a frenetic platform. It also seems like it's much harder to stop the spirals and dogpiles on twitter BECAUSE it's so damn fast.

Nah. Use twitter as a news aggregator and it works just fine. As a soapbox - not so much.

I use tumblr just to follow porn blogs and t works just fine. There's no soap boxes, drama, or bad info on my dashboard, so I guess that means it never happens anywhere else on tumblr and I can just say "nah" to everyone who says it does. Because if I don't experience it myself, it's not real!

Oh, yeah, porn Tumblr is so totally unlike the stereotype of Tumblr it's amazing. When I was largely using Tumblr for porn, I'd hear people talk about SJ Tumblr and be surprised at how angry they got, because I just didn't see it.

The weird political stuff creeps into fandom Tumblr, and there are artists I stopped following because I did not want to listen to them talk about how queer they were and how socially progressive and [gag] whatever so freaking much.

But too many of the teenies are horribly offended by porn Tumblr to really intersect with it. So you can enjoy arty stocking fetish photos, hardcore GIF's. or images of three young burly men stacked naked crotch-to-butt without having to worry about it. It's so calm.

I'll agree that twitter is worse, although that's not saying much. So is facebook which combines tumblr's lack of a filter, reblogging, and even more compulsive editing.

Certain elements of tumblr though. I'm reading Echopraxia by Peter Watts, (of the, ___ sucks and everyone dies school of hard science fiction) and there's an chapter where the poor untransformed biologist discovers that the hive mind people got their transhuman intelligence by giving themselves brain cancer.

Tumblr is LGBT rights brain cancer. Possibly feminist brain cancer as well.

Possibly. I don't know that I care because I see turf wars over triviality like who can and cannot be offended by the makorra "handmaiden" post to be both ridiculous and damaging.

I don't know who you're following, but in my dashboard, the people referencing that post were doing it in a 'lolol shippers are ridiculous check out this dumbass' and not in a 'omg how dare you!!!! problematic!!!!'

If there really is people being seriously offended by that post in your dashboard, have you considered that maybe the list of people you follow is need of a purge?
