I'm unfamiliar with the term 'jumped the shark' but I'm guessing it is similar to jumped the gun

It indicates when a show passes a point of ridiculousness from which there can be no return.

You can't take the show seriously anymore.

This is really specific - I think it refers more to a point where a show stops being good, for whatever reason.

It might be an Americanism. I'm not sure.

It stems from the tv show Happy Days where Fonzi literally jumped the shark in one of the later seasons.

Jumping the gun is from racing - when you start before the starting gun goes off.

Jumping the shark is from Happy Days (season 5 (of 11), episode 3), they were trying to get people to watch and had Fonzie doing a stunt that involved him jumping over a shark on water skis in his leather jacket. It denotes a show having run out of fresh ideas and going sharply down in quality.
