I don't know how to use Western style tampon applicators. I push the bottom part up, but the tampon doesn't come out all the way and go into me. It usually just gets lodged halfway up through the applicator, and I have to throw it out or take it out and just put it in me myself. :/ I feel so stupid about this.
I grew up on OB tampons, which I love, but I do wish I knew how to use ones with applicators too.

I hate tampons in general. I don't use them at all. I stick with pads.

You can actually take them out of the applicator and just insert them OB-style.

If it helps any, it's not exactly supposed to come out all in one go.

You put the applicator in your vagina first, then press the bottom part all the way up, until you feel a pop/click/jerk/whatever, and the tampon will be either out or mostly out - at which point, you pull the applicator back out a little bit, usually dislodging it the rest of the way. I usually then just it back up just a bit to help nudge the tampon in place, but that isn't strictly necessary.

That said, even this may not work for you, and that's fine. We all have menstrual devices we struggle with (for me it's mooncups/softcups - I can never use them successfully, there is always some leakage of blood and lining/guts). There I can't really think of any reason why you would need applicator tampons instead of OB ones, if the end result is still using a wad of cotton inside your vagina to soak up the blood. You'll be fine. :)

If you're using ones with cardboard applicators, try the plastic ones. I found the cardboard ones would 'stick' to me and/or get too wet and sort of crumple up and not really work right.

Otherwise - don't sweat it. Use the OB style ones - that's *all* i used like the last ten years i got periods - so much easier.
