It was Criminal Minds that worried me. You guys cannot have that many spree/serial killers on the go at once, can you?

No, we do not. That show is fantasy.

Well, no, but AFAIK USA is the country with the biggest number of serial killers (both convicted and unidentified).

This is mostly a combination between:

a) population
b) a large number of active law enforcement/FBI/etc.

It's certainly not that the US is more dangerous than say, India or w/e.

The FBI conservatively estimates that at any given time, there may be 30-50 active serial killers in the U.S. So yes, it's sort of scary. But keep in mind that (adjusting for population) this applies to every country. It's mostly that the U.S. has the most experience and the most law enforcement resources dedicated to hunting them, which is why the FBI regularly loans out its expertise to other countries.
