(Anonymous) 2015-03-16 12:43 am (UTC)(link)Everyone I know has been in full-on black armband mode for a week, and I respect the pain they're going through, having lost an author that meant so much to them, in such an unfair way. But I can't join them.
I think there's an opportunity window to fall in love with Discworld, and I missed it. By the time I tried the books (yes, I tried several, from multiple different points) I was an adult, and just found them kinda twee and cutesy. And I bet if I'd read them when I was twelve, I'd have gotten the pure joy so many other people got from them, and probably had a great time.
