I want to take an art class but I haven't done anything in years and I think when I get there I won't be able to draw or paint anything.

Take a beginner level class? Chances are nobody there will be very good. If you turn out to be on that level, great, you can work up! If you turn out to be better than you thought (not unlikely), you can take a more advanced class next time.

you should, if there's one thing being an art major taught me it's that you don't need talent to start, there were some utterly terrible students in the first few years of classes, you absolutely will not be the only one if you suck.
