Honestly, St. Patrick's Day in America has so little to do with the original celebrations anyway. For me, at least, it's about celebrating being Irish American. And yes, for some it's about getting drunk.

I'm not dismissing the horrible implications of the original, but... meanings and traditions change. Christmas and Easter are based on different holidays, which in turn probably derived from even older holidays.

I don't think it's a good idea to bring up Christmas and Easter around Proud Pagan Anon.
