Looks like Haibane Renmei? The hair looks like the protagonist's, and the wings are about that size and position.

Actually, I shouldn't be quite so flip. Haibane Renmei actually seems to care about spirituality, while NGE is a big dumb horror series wearing mysticism and psychotherapy as drag.

I think you're right that it was Haibane Renmei. I'm just saying that Haibane Renmei actually is an allegory (or can be read as such), as opposed to Evangelion which is superficially appropriated and applied bafflegab that looks deep but really isn't.

Ah, gotcha.

(I've actually only ever watched one episode of Evangelion, and it was one of the last, trippy ones, near the end of the series, unfortunately. The female characters of the show were all like "wanna become one with me, Shinji?" in some weird mind sequence. I NOPED out of it so fast and never tried watching again.)
