Crucifying them? Wow. How do people argue that this series isn't over the top and torture porny?

I only got through the first season and book, and realized that even the characters I'm supposed to hate a little bit less than all the others were also going to do evil, terrible things, so it stumps me what people see in this series. Unless watching a lot of bad people murder and torture one another gruesomely is your thing, I guess.

Speaking of Mark Reads, does it bother anyone else how Mark's reaction when the character fucks up an acts like a dick is "OMG DIE DIE DIE IN A FIRE".

Like he must have said that to Harry himself a handful of times.

I haven't read the book you reference at the end. Empire? Is it a similar writing style or something? I was always pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed all crichtons books. Especially as most are quite outside my usual preferences. I'm guessing something in the writing just appealed to me.

Media about kids actually doing things with friends or going out with friends makes me wish I would've done that more. It was pretty rare occasion that I hung out with people period, or unchaperoned by adults.

To split the difference, how are OOC fancomics regarded? It may be that a moment in what may or may not be an AU is better-regarded than a whole narrative that's clearly OOC.
