This is why it's secret, though. Because I know it's a quagmire getting into this stuff but in this particular series it seems to be ~every male character~ who holds this attitude.

All the male characters are like that because that's how the author thinks men and women are like in real life. And yet some people still don't want to believe in such a thing as institutionalized or internalized misogyny.
