Join the club! Though, a lot of it might be from the fact that most of the big surprises are pretty well known these days. So I grew up knowing that Darth Vader was Luke's dad and Leia was his sister.

I like the movies fine but the extended universe is much more interesting to me. Like, prequels? Ok, not terrible popcorn movies, very shiny. Jedi Apprentice books and attendant fanfic? Eat that shit up. Same with Timothy Zahn's novels; exactly like the movies, and at the same time better.

I only find it boring because I grew up on it. It's the sort of boring I'd put in the DVD player for background noise. Comfortable, familiar boring.
