ayrt - apparently gen fics get less views. It may be different in Silmarillion fandom, though.

I've found that while there is a lot of shipping, there is also a lot of gen in the Tolkien fandom. At least the book-specific parts. Less so with the movie fandom.

I totally agree. I adore Finrod and his contribution to Beren's quest is epic and yet overlooked.

I actually ship Finrod/Barahir but there is a huge part of my interest in how his promise to Barahir worked out for him. I'd love to know what he was thinking when his people basically betrayed him or what Galadriel thought when he died. I also wish Edrahil got more love since he also shows such epic loyalty and pays for his life.

Also, the tale of the Outlaws gets glossed over and Beren's long trek in the wilderness alone. I want to know more about all of that.

I really do love Luthien/Beren but there is such a focus on certain parts of the story and there's so much richness to the rest of it that I wish was explored.

But then I feel that way about quite a bit of Tolkien. A lot of fic stuff now is very samey and I want to see more about the ignored and glossed over stuff.

I would totally read Finrod/Beren, but my OTP is Finrod/Beor. I mean, come on, Beor left his family and his people to give live with Finrod and spent the rest of his life by his side. Now that's true love.

Text: I want more fics featuring these two. I find their relationship really interesting, and I’m sad at the lack of fics. I mean, Beren/Luthien is awesome and all, but Finrod’s sacrifice for Beren is even more so, IMHO.
